An update on our building project

The refurbishment project is nearly complete!

We hope that our project to refurbish the building will not only benefit us, but also the community & wider Church in this and future generations. We are making the building lighter, warmer and more flexible by doing the following works:

• The pews have been removed and will be replaced with comfy chairs.
• A new heating system replaces the old and ineffective one.
• Old wiring has been replaced and we now have an 'brilliant' new lighting scheme.
• The Narthex ceiling is removed, and the gorgeous stained glass window that it partly obscured, can now be seen completely.
• We have new toilets and a fire exit to comply with disability/safety regulations.
• We have new glazed entrance doors and lobby.
• There is a new kitchen with servery.
• The pipe organ has been removed and a flower preparation room has been built in the space it occupied.
• We have a baptistry for full immersion baptisms in the main body of the building.

The estimated finish date is February 2nd 2007. The official opening service will be on Sunday May 13th at 10:30am. All who have a link, past or present, with St.Matthias Church are invited to come.
